Cellulite appears when free-floating fat cells are deposited beneath the skin. It has a distinct appearance, like the surface of an orange peel or cottage cheese. The main factors that cause cellulite are hormones, genetics, and unhealthy lifestyles.
But exactly directly affects cellulite?
- Poor diet
- Slow metabolism
- Lack of physical activity

Affecting 90% of women and 10% of men all around the world, Cellulite needs to be eliminated as soon as it appears, as it tends to get worse (and harder to get rid of) as time goes by.
But fear not, there are many effective and natural ways to get rid of it:
1.Have a Healthy Diet, The Real Game Changer
A healthy diet plays a huge role in keeping the signs of cellulite at bay.
Cutting on salty food is one of the most important steps: too much sodium intake will make your fat cells to swell making your cellulite prominent.
It is also important to eat a lot of fibers and whole grain foods, as they remove toxins and waste from your body, as well as vegetables and fruit.
It is also important that you avoid sugar, starches, alcohol, highly calories and processed foods and sugary fruit to maintain a healthy lifestyle and keep the cellulite away.
Water also plays a fundamental role in the process of getting rid of cellulite, as it looks worse in a dehydrated state.
2. Exercising Regularly Is Crucial to Succeed
As we all know, cellulite is fat, so having excess weight can aggravate it.
It is highly recommended to engage in physical activities such as swimming, dancing, and walking, to get rid of the fat.
Cellulite is usually found in places such as buttocks, thighs, and legs.
Exercise routines to get rid of cellulite should definitely include:
- Step-Ups: Step up
on a bench or fitness step, then step down with the same leg.
- Lunges: Take one large step forward and lower your body so both of your knees form 90-degree angles, keeping your front knee over the ankle. Return to starting position.
- Squats: Aim for 50 reps, keeping your weight in the heels and your back straight as you extend your hips down and back (like you’re sitting in a chair). Try to lower until your thighs are at parallel to the floor. Don’t let your knees extend past your toes.
- Leg Press: For this one, you will need a gym. Step up in the Leg Press machine and do about 3 sets of 20 repetitions with as much weight as you can.
3. Dry Brushing, It Works Wonders
For this one, you’ll need a body brush (preferably made with natural fibers).
- Before starting, make sure your skin and the brush are both dry.
- Gently brush your whole body from your feet to your shoulders, focusing on the areas with the most cellulite. Remember to keep the brushing movements concentrated towards the heart to encourage blood circulation.
- Keep doing it for about 5 minutes.
- Finally, hop on the shower to wash away the dead skin cells and impurities.
- Do this once daily before taking a shower until you notice an improvement in your skin texture.
4. Improve Blood circulation And You Will Also Age Better
Although most people don’t know about it, bad blood circulation highly affects cellulite.
It reduces essential nutrients to the area and weakens the skin’s connective tissue.
This is what causes the broken or dimpled appearance.
Ways to improve blood circulation:
- Quit smoking: Smoking can harm the ability of your blood to circulate properly.
- Drink plenty of water: Our organs need to stay hydrated to function at their highest levels, and even our blood is made up in large part of water!
- Reduce caffeine in the diet: Caffeine has a dehydrating effect on our bodies. As we all know, staying hydrated improves blood circulation, so it’s very important to watch our caffeine consumption.
- Eat dark chocolate: Dark chocolate contains cocoa, which is known to improve blood flow, especially in the legs. It is important to choose a chocolate that is at least 70% cocoa.
5. Water, It’s More Important Than You Think
Cellulite pockets are full of toxins that accumulate in your body over the years. Drinking water is the best way to remove those toxins from your body while giving your skin a healthy glow and texture.
Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day to make sure your body gets the water it needs. It is also important to avoid drinking sodas and industrial drinks, which are full of sugar.
Although drinking water is a very important step to get rid of cellulite, if you don’t like drinking it plain, here are some healthy alternatives to it:
Eat fruits with higher water content such as:
They’re rich in water so they’ll compensate for the lack of drinking water.
You can also eat food to compensate for it:
- Cucumbers (96.7% water content)
- Iceberg Lettuce
- Green Pepper
These, although not as packed with water as the previous ones, will, without a doubt, help you compensate for the lack of water in your body.
If you just don’t like drinking plain water, you should consider maybe adding lemon or honey to a glass of water.
